This stage was shortened due to Mother Nature but still provided a challenging and technical 30-mile course. Lina Streeper widened her overall lead today and Dave Torgerson hopped on the Streeper train to finish second. Bruce Magnusson ran a very strong and consistent run placing 3rd. Alex Crittenden is holding 4th place and Greta Thruston let her pups run a bit they did well. Austin, Dennis, Jeff and JR are having a duel. Laura almost made up enough time in the overall to catch Jerry Scdoris as he lost his team and was helped by Jeff, JR and Dennis. Chris Adkin’s team is getting stronger every day and soles looked good at the finish line.
Although we had our rest day earlier in Big Piney due to Mother Nature, the Pedigree Stage Stop crew has pulled off the impossible, adding a stage to make up Stage 3. Race Director, Dan Carter and Assistant Race Director, Dianna Lehn, worked together with Pinedale Forest Service District’s Ranger, Rob Hoelscher, to make this happen in record time. Race Competitors and Race Crew alike agreed with this extraordinary change to the schedule but that’s the way we handle unforeseen changes in unpredictable climate. Bravo! Dan, Dianna, Rob and the US Forest Service.
We will be racing the Upper Green River course again tomorrow. Mushers and crew are stoked as this is a fantastic and challenging course.
