Bend Oregon is where Jerry calls home. Just 700 miles from the start of the Pedigree Stage Stop. This will be Jerry’s 6th trip to Wyoming.
In a traditional sense he had terrible training conditions in the Badlands Wilderness where he lives. ZERO snow and terrible icy-treacherous conditions in the Cascade Mountains. With 76 of the 80 hookups being on dirt with a four wheeler. The good news is his dogs have great feet and are very well conditioned.
We celebrate Jerry’s return. At 70 years young I believe that’s the oldest competitor we have had to date! He is scheduled for two knee replacements late this spring. But I’ll bet he’s sure to return better than ever.
Jerry says he’s full of anticipation, gratitude and excitement to have the honor of racing the best sled dog team he has ever assembled in the past 42 years of running dogs.
He is such a pleasure to have on the trail. Always smiling and full of the same exuberance every year. A true staple at the Pedigree Stage Stop.
