Hello Pedigree Stage Stop Race Fans,
good morning from Lander. This is the first time in a while, that we have freezing temperatures in the morning. That will be a welcome sight for the teams, its 20F here. Still not cold by mushing standards, but much better than the high 30th we have seen previous mornings. When we traveled through South Pass yesterday afternoon, the wind was howling up there, with gusts up to 50 mph. Let’s hope they calmed down.
Anny Malo once again will wear the yellow bib and her overall lead grew to 21 minutes over second place Bruce Magnusson. Stephane Roy will need a clean run to hold onto his third place overall, with Cathy Rivest hot on his heels, she had faster runt imes during the past 2 stages. Alix Crittenden at this point sits pretty solid in 5th place overall.
Liam Connor, still in 6th overall, better puts on his running shoes, to stay ahead of Germany’s Michael Tetzner, who finished 4th for the past 2 stages. Al Borak in 8th, has had very consistent runs, and shows the depth of the Magnusson Kennel, with 2 teams in the Top 10.
JR Anderson in 9th is 5 minutes ahead of Sarah Tarlton and Leonie Tetzner who are only separated by 22 seconds, after 4 days of racing and competing for a Top 10 position.
Mike Bestgen gave up quite a bit of time yesterday in Kemmerer, he sits in 12th place overall, 2 minutes ahead of Dave Hochman from Saskatchewan Canada.
The first teams going out today will be Chris Adkins at 9. a.m., followed by Sean Hildreth at 9.03. Then the two Leadville Colorado Teams with Tim Thiessen at 9.06 and Austin Forney at 9.09.
We hope to be live from the Staging area again, as well as from parts of the trail.
