The twin towns of Kemmerer and Diamondville are at the
center of the coal industry in southwest Wyoming. Kemmerer is the Lincoln
County seat and is located on the Hams Fork River. The world's largest strip
mine is located a few miles south of the towns and various energy plants
occupy the surrounding countryside. While Kemmerer/Diamondville offers a
great deal to outdoor enthusiasts, it is also near the famous Fossil Butte
National Monument, where visitors can dig for ancient fossil fish.
